Buying a Car

If you want to buy a car, you should start by considering several factors including price, size, durability and gas mileage. You must also be aware of all the conditions mandated by the state for acquiring your vehicle. Arkansas requires you to apply for title and registration of a vehicle within 30 days of the purchase, title transfer or the release of a loan. If you buy a car from a dealership, they will take care of this process for you. However, if you buy a car from a private party, you will need the car title, bill of sale, manufacturer's certificate of origin, proof that the car was assessed and paid for property taxes and an odometer reading if the car is under 10 years old. The state also requires you to have liability insurance. The lowest amount of insurance possible is $25,000 for injury to one person, $50,000 for two or more and $25,000 for property damage.
